Federal election 2010

Soon you will be required to vote at a Federal election to elect the members of the next Australian Parliament. Members of the Federal Parliament travel to Canberra at regular intervals when Parliament sits.

When you vote you will receive two ballot papers: a white one for the Senate and a green one for the House of Representatives.

There are 76 Senators including 12 from each State, six of which are elected at each normal election. There are 150 Members of the House of Representatives from throughout Australia, each representing one electorate.

Most Members of the House of Representatives are members of political parties. Some are Independents. The political party with the most Members in the House of Representatives will form the next Government.

I’m an Independent candidate for the House of Representatives in the electorate of Denison. Denison extends from Bonnet Hill in the South through to Austins Ferry in the north, and includes Hobart and Glenorchy.
